DataPilot is a great sync software for LG mobile which runs on a PC and helps to Sync contacts to one the mobile. Sync the phonebook information with contact managers such as Outlook, Outlook Express and Palm. It’s very easy to add, edit and transfer your cell phone contacts from a PC. Back up contact information if the mobile lost or break then sync it back to the new cell phone when it’s replaced.
There is no problem when back them up on my laptop in DataPilot. You can also import contacts from a palm device as long as the palm software is installed on the same machine. One thing to note though is that this software does not do true syncing. You either write to the phone or the PC, and the source data overwrites the destination. A suck feature of this product is when transfer the picture/video to the PC, data pilot crashed.
The lack of true syncing is really a pain here. Appointments deleted do not work from the calendar in datapilot when I import from Outlook on a daily basis. The workaround for this is to delete the data in data pilot then import from scratch again. This mimics what data pilot does with my LG. That’s rubbish, but once you figure it out, it works fine.
As i download midi files to my laptop and open them in the midi editor I can transfer them to my LG - contrary to what Verizon would have you believe. Midi tones they give you are not great, but you should find something better by yourself. Oh, if you should like some of the factory set “my sounds” as ringtones, you can read them from the phone and send them back to the phone as ringtones.
