More than one camping trip has been marred by poor communications. But staying in touch with fellow campers is a lot easier than you might think.
The simplest way to keep tabs on wandering children and other members of your party who become separated from the main group is to carry some kind of sound signalling device.
Your best bet among available devices is probably the Sony, Panisonic megaphone, which uses a replaceable aerosol can to power up to long sonic blasts that can be heard a mile away. Available at camping supply outlets, megaphone is small and light enough to fit in most youngsters’ pockets.
Such a device can be used with a prearranged set of signals. A long blast, for instance, to get the listener’s attention, followed by any number of shorter blasts that tell a story. Like “I am lost,” or “in trouble,” or “Bring the camera!”
