While the cause or causes of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) are still unknown, it is certain that ADHD doesn’t suddenly manifest itself in adults. If an adult is diagnosed with ADHD you can bet your bottom dollar the symptoms were there when that person was a child. For whatever reason the diagnosis may have been overlooked during younger years, but the disorder may be creating problems that need to be treated now that the individual has reached adulthood. Adult ADHD manifests itself through a myriad of symptoms. Although these symptoms are common to the disorder, caution is advised when trying to “self diagnose” on the basis of these symptoms alone. They are not specific to ADHD alone and can, and often do, relate to other conditions as well.
