Cough variant asthma (CVA) is a type of asthma which has the main symptoms of dry and non productive cough. Patients suffering from CVA do not show any other classic asthma symptoms like shortness of breath or wheezing. Cough variant asthma is also known as chronic cough in order to describe a condition where cough lasts for more than six to eight weeks. The coughing along with asthma can occur at any time of the day either at day or at night. The coughing also increases with exercise and when asthma is exposed to allergy causing substance like fragrance, dust or cold air. Cough variant asthma can occur to any person at any time but it is usually very common among the young children who suffer from childhood asthma
